With Father’s Day approaching, it’s time to think about the perfect gift for the man who gives his all to take care of you. Feeding Dad is always a good option, of course. This year, try something a little more exotic by adding gourmet coffee to create Father’s Day dishes with caffeine buzz.

Cooking with gourmet coffee

Coffee is a popular ingredient in many dishes, from breakfast items to meats and desserts. A roasted coffee bean has around 800 aroma compounds. They can carry elements of nuts, fruits, chocolate and spices. The flavor notes depend on where the coffee beans are grown. In Ecuador, gourmet coffee is grown in several different regions, from low-lying coastal areas to the Andes Mountains and even in the Galapagos Islands. Each region produces coffee with distinct characteristics, bitterness and acidity. Coffee beans are often grown with other crops, including cacao, bananas, mangoes, citrus fruit, sugar and avocados, which also affects the taste.

Different ways to use gourmet coffee in your dishes

There are so many ways to incorporate gourmet coffee into recipes. Professional cooks are well aware of the impact coffee can have in recipes. Brewed or fresh ground coffee can be used as a rub to flavor meat before grilling or added to a pot roast or beef stew. Gourmet coffee also makes an excellent addition to marinades for chicken, pork, and beef or to make a tangy barbecue sauce. Of course, you can never forget that adding coffee to desserts such as chocolate cake, brownies, cookies or tarts adds an extra bit of delicious flavor. After dinner, be sure to use Sense Ecuador gourmet coffee to create a variety of drinks from espresso to cappuccino or a mocha latte.
